november 2014 // wishlist

I am in dire need of making some mischief with cold-weather pieces. Seeing I live in a place where winter may as well not exist, I rarely have the opportunity to wear outerwear and warm designs; this means that when it is cold by some miracle, I have no choice but to nail my look.

So, without any further explanation, here is my current wishlist that is extremely passive-aggressive towards obnoxious AZ weather.

manuscript dress in heather medium grey; madewell, $168.

As I mentioned on my Facebook page, this dress accurately sums up what I love to wear. This piece is comfortable, geometric, neutral, oversized, and from Madewell (which is my favorite store in the world, check). The second I read that it was nonwaisted and had pockets, I was sold. This is my number one want at the moment.

Oh, and the description is gold: “you won’t have to choose between warmth and elegance in this dress.”

curved shoulder coat in black; cos, $250.

I’ll be honest: I haven’t had my eye on this coat for very long. I had a similar one from American Apparel bookmarked for a while, but after reading this article about an anonymous AA employee’s experience and learning that this is common for most of their staff, I leaned more towards this fabulous coat, so I can upkeep my quality of clothing and my morals. Plus COS makes the best coats ever, so I am far from complaining.

Sorry, American Apparel. I love you, but I would rather put my money elsewhere.

zip leggings in black; zara, $39.90.

These leggings fit so well, it is insane. They passed every single necessary test that you could imagine for the ideal pair of legwear: stretchy, good material, not see-through, short and tight at the ankles. Unlike most tragically depressing pairs of leggings I have encountered, these ones can be worn as pants without abridging your sense of comfortable, minimal style. No feeling surpasses that of being able to look chic and feel comfortable simultaneously. Bravo, Zara.

lambswool scarf in mustard; asos, $41.69.

Mustard is amongst my top five favorite colors, and I would argue is the best color to compliment a grey-and-black winter look. It is a way to access a “pop of color” if you are not a fan of brights. Pair this with neutral outerwear and you are golden. The Scarf is a compliment magnet: if you don’t like strangers coming up to you and telling you they love you, I don’t recommend buying this.
