With so many inspirational things surrounding me this week, I couldn’t help but compile another post of things that have caught my eye lately.
BAMBI NORTHWOOD FOR A/W 2011 | 2012 , MIU MIU
I don’t know why I am just coming across this image and just learning about Bambi Northwood, but I am in love with this campaign because of the amazing use of muted color and dramatic geometric collars (plural). It is very reflective of Miu Miu as a concept and it almost gives a cultish vibe that I adore very much.
MARILYN MANSON FOR SAINT LAURENT | JANUARY 2013
I have been trying to emulate some Saint Laurent undertones in my personal style lately (see : instagram), as YSL is one of my favorite concepts of all time and the Saint Laurent Music Project is my favorite fashion campaign ever. Marilyn Manson is an amazing icon to use in fashion the same way that Rick Genest has been incorporated into fashion campaigns the last couple of years: the beautiful portrayal of these amazing, edgy human beings as fashion icons adds a new angle to high-end fashion and creates an alternative atmosphere that makes designers like Yves Saint Laurent more accessible to people who don’t necessarily identify with expensive culture. Plus it’s just fucking awesome. Bravo, YSL. Bravo.
ON THE TOPIC OF MARILYN MANSON…
Manson’s new album, THE PALE EMPEROR, is now ten days old and I am in love with the new mature vibes that exude from each song. It’s amazing how artists mature so well with their fans sometimes. Anyways.
FAUX LEATHER POINTED LOAFERS IN BLACK
I know I just mentioned my need for quality footwear two posts ago, but I tried on these flats this week and fell in love. They’re from… Forever 21. But I have never seen shoes that suit my foot type so well (my feet are wide and hideous), and they would go with everything, literally everything. And they definitely coincide with the way my personal style is headed as of lately. I am in love with them.
“FUCKED FOREVER” UNIF SKATE SHOES
My friend Nick just showed me these shoes today and I am obsessed already. I love the cursive embroidering, and on the back heel, they printed “UNIF” – in case you need to disclose that your skate shoes are really fucking expensive and you didn’t buy them from Tilly’s, which is a disclosure I wouldn’t be opposed to. However, unless you have $150 to drop on sneakers that will likely fall apart (sorry, UNIF), I suggest just buying some vans and taking a trip to Michael’s. But they are super cute.
